I need this reminder, often. I easily forget my accomplishments or pieces that I loved writing and instead remember the moments of no outcome.

But I had to comment on this piece because I too fell victim to the poetry.com scam. They let me know my ten-year-old self was published in one of their books! I was ecstatic. I felt so special.

But my mom didn’t give me the straight-forward truth that the site made money off people like me. Or maybe she didn’t realise it either.

But I still think back to poetry.com sometimes. It’s crazy that when the internet was so new they were so successful running their business like that. Glad to know I wasn’t the only one fooled though!
